Our converter uses mid-market exchange rates sourced from the European Central Bank via the Frankfurter API, updated every business day. These are the same rates you see on Google or financial news sites. However, when you actually convert money through banks or transfer services, they add a markup (typically 1-5%) as their fee. So the rate here is accurate for reference, but your actual conversion may differ slightly.

The converter works by first converting your amount to USD (using USD exchange rates), then converting from USD to your target currency. So if you want to convert EUR to JPY, we calculate: EUR → USD → JPY. The exchange rate shown (e.g., 1 EUR = 162 JPY) is the cross rate derived this way.

Google shows a single pair conversion. These are indicative mid-market rates updated on weekdays. For actual money transfers, use your bank's rate or compare specialist services like Wise, Revolut, or OFX which often give rates much closer to mid-market than traditional banks. The difference can be 1-5% on large transfers, which is significant.

Rates are sourced from the European Central Bank and updated on weekdays (Monday-Friday). They represent the official daily exchange rate. Weekend and holiday rates remain as last available weekday rate. The "Last updated" date is shown below the conversion result.
